Who This Training Is For
"Am I actually prepared if something goes seriously wrong?"
1 in 16 psychedelic journeys lead to lingering bad outcomes, according to a recent study of over 3,000 participants.
Careful integration support can mitigate these effects, but it doesn’t prevent them.
There’s a moment every practitioner dreads: when a session starts to spiral out of control and safety checklists feel useless.
You hold space. You breathe with them. You do everything you were taught.
And still, something in you knows: This is the gap your training didn’t fill.
You’ve completed practitioner training and you’re working with clients, but safety still feels more like intuition than a repeatable clinical process
You understand set and setting, but no one has ever taught you how to read and prepare your client’s nervous system before the medicine takes effect.
You’ve experienced a serious adverse event, or you live in fear of one, and you’d rather learn to prevent it than scramble to manage it mid-session, in the dark, alone
What separates a highly-recommended practitioner from one whose career ends after a single incident? Not talent… It’s their level of preparation.
If you are an established practitioner, medical professional, or wellness coach who wants to close the gap between what you know and what your clients’ nervous systems actually need, this is exactly where you should be.
This Training Is NOT For Everyone
If you don’t yet have an established practice or a professional background in health, wellness, or clinical care, this isn’t your starting point. We built this for practitioners, medical professionals, and wellness coaches who are already working with clients, whether or not they’ve incorporated psychedelics into their work yet.
If you’re earlier in your journey, start with our Microdosing Practitioner Certification.
The protocols, technology, and frameworks in this training are designed to be implemented, not filed away. If you’re not ready to integrate new tools into your existing client work, this isn’t the right fit.
The curriculum is built around real clinical and facilitation scenarios. You’ll get the most from it if you have an active practice where you can apply what you learn in real time.
The Great Psychedelic Myth:
Safety Is Just Avoiding a Bad Trip
Most practitioners think of safety as something they maintain during a session.
They ground their clients, hold space, stay present, and, when something goes sideways, they reach for the same toolkit and hope it’s enough to stabilize someone in full ego-dissolution.
Sometimes it is. Often it’s not. And the difference has nothing to do with how skilled or well-intentioned you are.
It has to do with what was, or wasn’t, happening in your client’s nervous system before the medicine ever took effect.
The session might look fine. Your client might even report a breakthrough. But weeks later, they’re anxious, fragmented, and unable to integrate what actually happened to them.
To truly heal and change, your clients require a professional who can first and foremost facilitate safety, rooted in physiology.
The New Standard for
Safety-First Psychedelic Practice
This is the first online safety training of this depth, rigor, and actionable knowledge for practitioners.
In this cohort, you will learn directly from Dave and Paul during live sessions (and will likely be the final cohort to receive this level of mentorship).

Hear From the Practitioners

I have experienced journeys that went wrong! And I do a lot of therapy and prep and integration with people, but preparing the nervous system is the piece I am missing. I aim to learn how to prepare and create a calm nervous system for a journey.
I’m looking for mentors who can train from a neuroscience perspective. My training thus far has been from therapists and legacy facilitators. I plan to incorporate my learnings directly into my facilitator protocols as well as use them in educating the community.
I’m about to start offering this kind of work with my clients but would feel more comfortable with more knowledge around safety. More tools to be more effective in the full process. Apply it by being more prepared with intakes, journey facilitations and integrations.
Always looking for ways to improve my practice. Neuroscience/ Nervous System Regulation geek, trying to learn more about somatics. I own/use Apollo Neuro and interested in integrating it into journey facilitation.
Timing was perfect as I haven’t been holding space and suddenly have the opportunity again, and some of what slowed me down was just discomfort with my level of experience and content of prior trainings. The emphasis on peri-journey work feels very right to me and I appreciate learning from folks who have a similar mindset and more experience. Will be working in the near future with a group of vets.
I’ve had much experience of my own with psychedelic journeying in all different kinds of set and settings, so my personal experiences are vast, however I want to feel super confident with regards to safety when holding space for others.

ABOUT US
ABOUT US
Why Learn From the Psychedelic Coaching Institute?
Now the gold standard in professional psychedelic training, we have taught hundreds of practitioners the skill of psychedelics since 2021.
Founder Paul F. Austin recognized a critical gap: more and more well-meaning people were interested in becoming practitioners, but few had the education, hands-on training, ethical clarity, and marketability to become credible and make a positive impact.
The Psychedelic Coaching Institute came into existence to close this gap by training the next generation of psychedelic leaders. We grew from our sister company, Third Wave, which has been a trusted resource for psychedelic education for over a decade.
Today, we blend science, spirit, and skill to give our practitioners a comprehensive toolkit for preparation, facilitation, and integration. Rooted in a nervous system-first approach and equipped with entrepreneurial gusto, our practitioners are defining the future of this “third wave” of psychedelics. By joining this program, you aren’t just taking a course; you are joining the movement’s vanguard.

Program FAQs
When are the live calls? Do I need to attend live to earn my certification?
Live classes run once per week (Tuesdays, 9:00–11:00 AM PT) for approximately two hours each. Recordings are available, but this certification does require 12 hours of training participation, completion of all quizzes, and submission of your Capstone Project.
Do I receive an Apollo Neuro™ device as part of the training?
Are continuing education (CE/CME) credits available?
Who is this training for, and who is it not for?
This certification is for practitioners, coaches, clinicians, and medical professionals who are actively working with clients in a health or wellness capacity. No prior psychedelic training or experience is required — this program provides the safety science, protocols, and tools you need to work confidently in this space. If you’re looking to begin a career in psychedelics, we recommend starting with our Microdosing Practitioner Certification.

What makes this different from other psychedelic safety trainings?
This is the first professional training to combine Dr. Rabin’s clinical safety protocols, patented Apollo Neuro™ technology, and hands-on mentorship with Paul’s psychedelic expertise.
You will not just learn theory. Over the course of 3 months, you will get everything you need to reconfigure and protect your practice for the long-run, with physiological safety as the foundation.
As a member of this cohort, you’ll also receive a level of direct access to Dave and Paul that future cohorts are unlikely to have.
