Program Structure
Monthly Mentorship with Paul F. Austin
Every month (six 1-hour group calls), you get mentorship with Paul F. Austin. Informed by Third Wave’s 5-pillar psychedelic coaching framework, you will get comprehensive training on topics ranging from safety and ethics, working with different medicines, and types of psychedelic coaching to outcomes of psychedelic work and how to ground breakthroughs into lasting change.
Monthly Masterclasses with Guest Experts
Over the course of the program, you will get six 2-hour masterclasses total with our guest experts. Each of our teachers is a leader in their field.
Bi-Weekly 2-Hour Pod Sessions
During these twelve 2-hour sessions, you will meet with your pre-assigned pod group and a designated facilitator to help integrate the teaching material through reflection, discussion, and application. Expect to form close relationships with your group. These sessions may include guided group conversations, breathwork, and other facilitated practices to support your growth.
Monthly Module Assignments and one Final Assignment
Six module assignments, which comprise a final ‘Practitioner Dossier’ that serves as your personal guide to turn in at the end. The Final Assignment includes the Practitioner Dossier, three 30-minute recorded client sessions, a learning declaration and program hours log.

Holding Space – Relational and somatic skills: attunement, boundaries, rupture/repair, shadow awareness, and meaning-making.
Intensive – Preparation, attendance, and integration for the 6-day in-person Intensive.
Integration – Designing and delivering integration: 6-week arcs, outcome tracking, sustaining change, ethical handoffs.

What happens during the consultation call with Joseph?
Your consultation with Joseph Anew, our Career Advisor and program graduate, is a personalized conversation to explore if the Practitioner Certification Program aligns with your goals. During this call, Joseph will discuss your background, aspirations in psychedelic coaching, and answer any questions you have about the program. He’ll provide honest feedback about whether now is the right time for you to join and if the program is a good fit for your career path. This no-pressure conversation is designed to ensure you make the best decision for your professional journey.
Do I need to be a credentialed coach to apply?
No. There are no licensing or certification requirements to participate in the program.
What is the time commitment for the certification program?
You will need 4-6 hours per week between classes, workshops, and assignments.
What is the Practicum and why is it required?
The Practicum part of the course consists of Practice Sessions and a Final Assessment,
a requirement for graduation. This phase lasts for six months and begins after the theoretical portion of the curriculum is complete. The point of the Practicum is to ensure that you understand and can skillfully apply the proprietary PCI coaching methodology.
How do I become eligible for placement in the Directory?
Participants will be expected to demonstrate consistent ethical and professional integrity. Only graduates who fully understand all course materials, receive high marks from their coach mentor on assignments, and demonstrate ongoing support for their fellow course participants will be invited to be listed on the Third Wave Directory.
Do you provide training on how to run and market a coaching business?
While our primary focus is on developing your skills as a psychedelic practitioner, we understand the importance of building a successful practice. Although we don’t provide extensive business or marketing training, we offer valuable resources to support your professional growth:

How much does the program cost?
The total tuition for the program is $12,500, which includes the all-expenses-paid intensive in Costa Rica (excluding flights). During your consultation call with Joseph, he’ll discuss pricing details and answer any questions about the investment. Our goal is to make this transformative training accessible to committed practitioners who are ready to make an impact in this field.
Is there a payment plan?
Yes, we offer flexible payment plans. After your consultation and acceptance into the program, you’ll have options for financing your tuition. We offer payment plans through Affirm and Klarna with interest rates starting at 0% depending on your approval. If you’re not approved for Affirm or Klarna, we’ll work with you to create a custom payment plan that fits your needs. Please note that if we handle the payment plan internally, an additional fee will apply.

The intensive is a key element of the overall experience and is required for certification.

Am I guaranteed a certificate? How does “graduation” work?
In addition to meeting our attendance and homework requirements, you will be required to conduct and submit for review a practice coaching session with a client (to be recorded anonymously and deleted after review), and given a final assessment after completing the training. Upon passing this assessment, you will be awarded your Psychedelic Coaching Institute Coaching Certification certificate and all the perks that go with it.
