FDA Approval Is Close. The Clinics Won’t Keep Up.
In April, the FDA put psilocybin on a priority track that aims for a one- to two-month review.¹ Compass Pathways expects to launch in the first half of 2027.²
A senior adviser at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) says as many as 2.1 million veterans could benefit from psychedelic treatment, but admits, “Our demand will exceed our ability to supply these therapies, no doubt.”³ Since Oregon’s 2020 ballot measures, up to 90,000 more people a year use psilocybin,⁴ but the state’s legal program served fewer than 6,000 clients in 2025.⁵ And Compass’ treatment is drug-first, with no talk therapy built in.³
More people will try psychedelics than there are trained practitioners to support them. On November 6th, Paul will show you what’s coming, and where you fit.
What You'll Learn:
Where psilocybin’s FDA review stands now, and the realistic timeline from approval to the first patients
What REMS (the FDA’s safety program) and supervised-dosing rules are likely to require, and who will (and won’t) be allowed to deliver treatment
Cash pay vs. insurance: what treatment could cost patients at first (reportedly around $20,000 per dose⁶), and why high early costs could push demand outside the clinic
Why legal approval may drive a surge in use outside the medical system, and what Oregon’s data shows
What the VA’s push to treat veterans with psychedelics could mean for demand, and what’s next for MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD, which could be approved as early as January 2027
Where trained practitioners fit in, inside clinics and out, and how to prepare your practice before demand peaks

ABOUT US
Why Learn From the Psychedelic Coaching Institute?
Now the gold standard in professional psychedelic training, we have taught hundreds of practitioners to master the skill of psychedelics since 2021.
Founder Paul F. Austin recognized a critical gap: more and more well-meaning people were interested in becoming practitioners, but few had the education, hands-on training, ethical clarity, and marketability to become credible and make a positive impact.
The Psychedelic Coaching Institute came into existence to close this gap by training the next generation of psychedelic leaders. We grew from our sister company, Third Wave, which has been a trusted resource for psychedelic education for 10+ years.
Today, we blend science, spirit, and skill to give our certified practitioners a comprehensive toolkit for preparation, facilitation, and integration. Paul’s expertise in intentional microdosing, in particular, guides many of our core methodologies.
We offer two flagship programs:
Rooted in a nervous system-first approach and equipped with entrepreneurial gusto, Psychedelic Coaching Institute practitioners are defining the future of this third wave of psychedelics.
