You’re a psychedelic practitioner, but you still worry:
“What if my next session goes wrong?”
This is a common and very real concern. Even a single adverse experience can cost you your practice and your credibility.
1 in 16 psychedelic journeys lead to lingering bad outcomes, according to a recent study of over 3,000 participants. Careful integration support can mitigate these effects, but it doesn’t prevent them.
Prevention starts earlier. It starts with understanding what’s happening in your client’s nervous system before the journey begins, and having the tools to act on what you find.
Most practitioner trainings don’t go there. They teach you how to hold space, screen for contraindications, and support integration afterward.
That’s necessary work, but it leaves a gap between what you know and what your client’s physiology actually needs.

If you’re a practitioner or medical professional working with psychedelics (underground or in a clinical context), you’ve probably felt that gap firsthand:
You’ve completed accredited psychedelic training, yet safety still feels like a checklist rather than
You rely mostly on intuition and basic screening to avoid negative outcomes, because no one has given you a better framework
You bring real rigor to your work, but you know there’s a physiological layer you’re not fully equipped to address
Dave and Paul have designed this training for you.
The Great Psychedelic Myth:
Safety Is Just Avoiding a Bad Trip
Yes, you want your clients to avoid acute stress and re-traumatization. But that’s only the beginning of real care.
Most practitioners think of safety as something they maintain during a session.
They ground their clients, hold space, stay present, and, when something goes sideways, they reach for the same toolkit and hope it’s enough to stabilize someone in full ego-dissolution.
Sometimes it is. Often it’s not. And the difference has nothing to do with how skilled or well-intentioned you are.
It has to do with what was, or wasn’t, happening in your client’s nervous system before the medicine ever took effect.

Safety is the medicine. Without a regulated nervous system and neurobiological readiness, even the most profound insights fade. Without neural scaffolding, ego dissolution can slip into lingering dysregulation.
The session might look fine. Your client might even report a breakthrough. But weeks later, they’re anxious, fragmented, and unable to integrate what actually happened to them.
To truly heal and change, your clients require a professional who can first and foremost facilitate safety, rooted in physiology.

The New Standard for
Safety-First Psychedelic Practice
Based on his 15+ years of clinical work and research, Dr. Rabin has invented the Apollo wearable – the only patented technology proven to reduce adverse psychedelic experiences – along with science-backed safety protocols.
Paired with Paul’s industry-leading expertise in psychedelic coaching, this training provides:
Direct mentorship from Paul and Dr. Rabin (who has never offered this kind of personalized mentorship to medical professionals and practitioners)
Practice with the Apollo Neuro™ wearable (in preparation for use with clients)
Assessment and preparation protocols (to adapt to your scope of practice)
Somatic facilitation techniques (everything required to navigate intense journey content, once all clients have been thoroughly screened and prepped)
Crisis navigation blueprint (techniques for emergent difficulties)
This is the first online training of this depth, rigor, and actionable knowledge for practitioners.
The first cohort will learn directly from Dave and Paul during live sessions (and will likely be the final cohort to receive this level of mentorship).

12 Weeks to Professional Certainty
The Curriculum Overview: This comprehensive training is designed to transform your understanding of the psychedelic experience from a “trip to be managed” into a “physiological process to be supported.”
Over nine modules, we bridge the gap between clinical psychiatry and somatic practice, providing you with field-tested ways to navigate the most complex states of human consciousness.
Over nine modules, we bridge the gap between clinical psychiatry and somatic practice, providing you with field-tested ways to navigate the most complex states of human consciousness.
Module 1: The Science of Safety: Set, Setting, and the Nervous System
Master the foundations of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) to understand how “threat mode” prevents healing. Learn how to create the neural scaffolding your clients need to feel safe enough for transformation.
Module 2: The Neurobiology of Psychedelics and Safety
Explore how medicines interact with 5-HT2A receptors and the Default Mode Network (DMN) to facilitate ego dissolution. Distinguish between healthy psychological opening and dangerous physiological dysregulation.
Module 3: Breath, Body, and Technology as Tools for Safety
Integrate the Apollo Neuro™ as a real-time regulation tool to provide “wearable breath” for your clients. Build a comprehensive somatic toolkit that uses touch, frequency, and vibration to anchor the nervous system.
Module 4: Ethics, Law, and Scope of Practice
Navigate the complex legal landscape and ethical responsibilities of the modern practitioner. Define clear boundaries between sitting, coaching, and clinical therapy. Implement informed consent and trauma-informed care principles.
Module 5: Preparation: Building Resilience Before the Journey
Learn to identify physiological and mental health “red flags” using a clinical-grade screening process. Establish the lifestyle adjustments and intentional readiness required for a safe and effective journey.
Module 6: Guiding the Journey: The Art of Presence
Learn how to co-regulate with clients to provide stability during the peak of their experiences. Learn trauma-sensitive language and non-invasive interventions to resolve fear responses without interrupting the healing process.
Module 7: Integration: Translating Insight into Daily Life
Maximize the “48-hour neuroplastic window” following a journey to translate insights into lasting behavioral change. Use specific somatic exercises and tech-assisted grounding to ensure insights become habits.
Module 8: Navigating Challenges: Panic, Fear, and Dissolution
Develop the skills to manage acute anxiety, panic, and overwhelm with calm, clinical precision. Practice high-stakes scenarios to ensure you are never caught off guard by a client’s physiological reaction.
Module 9: Advanced Case Studies and Multimodal Integration
Role-play real-world psychedelic scenarios, using the Apollo wearable, breath, and multimodal interventions for even the most complex cases. Synthesize everything you’ve learned into a customized, evidence-based Safety & Integration Protocol. Present your framework for peer review and receive final certification from Dr. Rabin and Paul F. ABOUT US
ABOUT US
Why Learn From the Psychedelic Coaching Institute?
Now the gold standard in professional psychedelic training, we have taught hundreds of practitioners in the skill of psychedelics since 2021.
Founder Paul F. Austin recognized a critical gap: more and more well-meaning people were interested in becoming practitioners, but few had the education, hands-on training, ethical clarity, and marketability to become credible and make a positive impact.
The Psychedelic Coaching Institute came into existence to close this gap by training the next generation of psychedelic leaders. We grew from our sister company, Third Wave, which has been a trusted resource for psychedelic education for over a decade.
Today, we blend science, spirit, and skill to give our practitioners a comprehensive toolkit for preparation, facilitation, and integration. Rooted in a nervous system-first approach and equipped with entrepreneurial gusto, our practitioners are defining the future of this “third wave” of psychedelics. By joining this program, you aren’t just taking a course; you are joining the movement’s vanguard.

I’m a huge fan of Third Wave for their role in educating the masses on topics that most doctors aren’t allowed to speak about. It fills in a lot of the educational gaps regulations place on physicians and psychologists when it comes to discussing psychedelics.
— Molly Maloof
M.D., American author, journalist, entrepreneur
Paul and Third Wave sit at a crucial crossroads where all that is – and all that will be – important intersects. Mental health, purpose, leadership, yes, even the future of humanity. It’s a comfort that such an informed, curious person occupies that spot, exploring, illuminating and asking the right questions and connecting the best people to shape our society as we march into this brave new world.
— Scott Omelianuk
Editor-in-Chief at Inc. Magazine
When used skillfully, psychedelics can be powerful tools for increasing human baseline wellbeing and thriving, so it’s great to see Psychedelic Coaching Institute contributing to the growing need for pioneering psychedelic coaches.

Program FAQs
When are the live calls? Do I need to attend live to earn my certification?
Live classes run once per week (Tuesdays, 9:00–11:00 AM PT) for approximately two hours each. Recordings are available, but this certification does require 12 hours of training participation, completion of all quizzes, and submission of your Capstone Project.
Do I receive an Apollo Neuro™ device as part of the training?
The Apollo Neuro™ is offered as a discounted add-on at enrollment (not included in the base tuition). Because hands-on practice with the device is central to the curriculum, we strongly recommend securing one before the program begins.
Are continuing education (CE/CME) credits available?
CE/CME accreditation is currently in progress and is a high priority. We will communicate specific credit details to enrolled participants as soon as approval is confirmed. If CE eligibility is an important factor in your decision, reach out to our team for the latest status.
Who is this training for, and who is it not for?
This certification is for established practitioners, coaches, clinicians, and medical professionals who are already trained in psychedelic work and actively seeing clients. If you’re looking to begin a career in psychedelics, we recommend starting with our Microdosing Practitioner Certification.
What makes this different from other psychedelic safety trainings?
This is the first professional training to combine Dr. Rabin’s clinical safety protocols, patented Apollo Neuro™ technology, and hands-on mentorship with Paul’s psychedelic expertise.
You will not just learn theory. Over the course of 3 months, you will get everything you need to reconfigure and protect your practice for the long-run, with physiological safety as the foundation.
As a member of the inaugural cohort, you’ll also receive a level of direct access to Dave and Paul that future cohorts are unlikely to have.
